From my third round of interviews, I learned a lot. I learned that no matter what, there is going to be a group of college-aged students who will not eat out at restaurants, no matter how appealing. They are on a tight budget and they realize that cooking at home is more cost effective. I also learned that serving alcohol would be incredibly beneficial to my restaurant's income, and would attract a lot more customers. The concept of mimosas and bloody marys seem to be very popular and get students excited about the restaurant.
Hi Laura!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your pitch! You have a good presence and your idea for a restaurant is wonderful! Definitely include alcohol and happy hour specials in order to attract a crowd to your new restaurant. I would look into unique drink options! Laura, I think you've done a great job finding out what customers are looking for in a breakfast/lunch restaurant in midtown by identify alcohol and classic meal options. In your pitch you did a good job describing these elements, but by holding your camera you were unable to gesture to engage the audience and add emphasis to your ideas. You should place your camera on a steady surface so you can pitch the idea as you would to a potential investor. Also, make sure you silence your phone as it is very distracting to hear every text you receive in the video. I look forward to seeing how your concept develops more in the future.
ReplyDeleteHi Laura, I think you did a very good job executing your elevator pitch on video to the blog. I think you have a very good idea with your breakfast/brunch/lunch place at midtown in Gainesville. I've always thought that the location on 13th and University would of been a great location for a Denny's or an Ihop. My only critique is that you should turn your phone on silent before recording because it got a tad distracting when you were speaking. Other than that, you did a great job! ReplyDeleteLaura, you have a great idea for your restaurant and made the pitch very well! I think you would have a great target audience as there isn't really anything in midtown that has the breakfast/brunch. I also think that adding alcohol to the menu especially during brunch hours would attract more people. Here is my own idea http://ashleydunson.blogspot.com/2016/02/elevator-pitch-no-2.html
ReplyDeleteYou did a good job with the video. I really enjoyed watching it. I do agree with the above comments in that you should stabilize your camera by putting it on a flat surface. Also, maybe silencing your phone would be the best option. (But girl, you're popular!)
ReplyDeleteOverall, good job.

Hi, Laura! I would work on speaking a bit louder and with more assertion so you can capture your audience and keep them engaged. Your variety in tone was very good, and you kept a good pace! Also, I would focus less on discussing what you learned and what you could improve on, and more on what you know to be your business's strong points/selling points. You want to convince us not convince yourself ;) But great job! Check out my pitch here:https://youtu.be/YW_vohkVYig
