Today I went to a random apartment complex’s pool near my apartment
to find random people to give a dollar to. It was really awkward. I predicted
that I wouldn’t have a hard time giving away free money, and my prediction was
correct. My tactic was to go up to them and just be very blunt and straight
forward, and so that’s what I did. I approached them and asked if they wanted a
dollar because I was “feeling generous today”. Yes, I got weird looks, but they
took the dollar. All of the people I approached were busy reading, studying, or listening to music.

Hi, Laura. It was an interesting idea to interrupt people at a pool. That probably did make it more awkward than doing it on campus! In my experience, people were also weirded out by being videotaped, so that didn't help me when I did it. Did all five people end up taking the dollar from you in the end?

Hi Laura, your tactic of selling the money was very straight forward however it also appears like you were forcing the dollar onto those people. Personally, I thought this exercise was going to be easy however it turned out that only one person would accept a free dollar--which wasnt a bad thing since i didnt like the idea of going around handing out free money. http://gainzvillebloggers.blogspot.com/2016/02/free-money.html
ReplyDeleteI think you did very well with your videos. This is the first video I have seen where someone has done this at a swimming pool. I agree with Trevor that it looked as if you were trying to force the dollar onto the people. Overall good job on your videos and good luck in the next half of the semester.
ReplyDeleteHi Laura, out of all the videos I watched this tactic seemed to be the most effective. People tend to listen to you more when you are blunt and up front with them. It was easier for you to give away the money than I expected. I thought it would have been a little more difficult based off the other videos I watched.
